Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-14 · Last updated 14 October 2026
This document is an honest description of how Geat.io works today, published early so you can read it before you sign up. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Items written as [LEGAL ENTITY] or [JURISDICTION] are placeholders that will be filled in at that review. Nothing here is legal advice, and the reviewed version will replace this one without changing how the service behaves.
The short version: we are software that watches blockchains for you. Your customers pay your own wallet directly, we never touch the money, and you pay us in prepaid credits rather than a cut of your revenue. Everything below follows from that.
1. Who you are contracting with
Geat.io is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY], registered at [LEGAL ENTITY ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). These terms govern your use of the Geat.io website, dashboard, API, hosted payment pages, and plugins (together, the "Service").
By creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create an account. We record the date and the version you accepted at registration.
2. What the Service is - and is not
Geat.io is software. It derives one-time receiving addresses from an extended public key (xpub) that you register, shows your customer a payment page, watches the relevant blockchains for payments to those addresses, and tells your system what it saw through webhooks and the API.
We are not a custodian, an exchange, a money transmitter, a broker, or a wallet provider. We never take possession of your funds and we never hold the private keys that control them. Your customer pays an address that only you can spend from, so the coins arrive in your wallet without passing through us. There is no balance of your money on our systems to withdraw, freeze, or lose.
Because we only observe the chain, a detection failure is a bookkeeping failure: an invoice may be marked unpaid or late when the money has in fact arrived. The money is still yours. The Service is not a guarantee that every payment is detected, classified, or reported on time.
We do not convert crypto to fiat, we do not provide price guarantees, and the exchange rates shown on payment pages are indicative quotes sourced from third-party market data.
3. Your account
An account requires a working email address and a password. We do not ask for identity documents to open an account and we do not run identity checks on merchants. You are responsible for keeping your credentials, your two-factor device, your backup codes, and your API keys secret, and for everything done through them.
You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement and of running the business you are collecting payments for.
You can close your account from the dashboard once no payments are in flight. Closure is refused while you still have invoices that are waiting, pending, or partly paid, because closing would hide a payment your customer is in the middle of making. Wait for them to complete or expire and the closure goes through. Section 9 explains what happens then.
4. Credits: how you pay us
The Service is paid for with prepaid credits. There is no percentage fee on your payments, no monthly plan, and no tier that unlocks features.
One credit is consumed when a payment address is first derived for an invoice, and one credit is consumed for each standalone address request through the API. Re-selecting a different coin on an invoice that already has an address does not consume a second credit.
If an invoice expires and nothing ever arrived at any of its addresses, the credit it consumed is returned to your balance automatically. A credit spent on an invoice that was paid, part-paid, or received any transaction at all stays spent.
At a zero balance no new address can be derived: a payer choosing a coin is told the merchant cannot currently accept payments, and API address requests are refused. Invoices that already have an address carry on working, and we email you before and when the balance runs out.
The first time you register a wallet key on a new account we grant a one-time allocation of free trial credits. An account that has already received them does not get a second allocation.
Credits are not money, carry no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and are not refundable for cash, including after account closure. They do not expire. If you close your account, your remaining balance stays recorded against it and is restored if you re-register with the same email address.
You buy credits by paying a credit invoice in crypto, through the same payment flow your own customers use. We do not offer card payment or any other fiat payment method. Prices are shown before purchase and are exclusive of any tax we are required to add.
5. What you are responsible for
Your wallet and your keys. You register the xpub; we derive from it. If the xpub is wrong, belongs to someone else, or comes from a wallet you cannot spend from, payments go somewhere you cannot reach and we cannot recover them. Verify the first address we derive against your wallet before you take real orders.
Your customers. The commercial relationship is between you and your customer. Delivery, support, disputes, cancellations, and refunds are yours to handle. We hold no funds, so we cannot issue a refund on your behalf and there is no chargeback mechanism to appeal to.
Your legal position. You are responsible for your own licensing, tax, accounting, consumer-law, and sanctions obligations, and for whatever rules apply to accepting crypto where you operate.
Your integration. Verify the HMAC signature on every webhook before acting on it, and treat the API as the authority on invoice state. Credentials you leak are your risk.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to collect payment for anything illegal where you or your customer are located, or for: the sale of stolen goods, stolen credentials, or stolen payment data; malware, ransomware, botnets, or stresser/DDoS services; child sexual abuse material; the financing of terrorism; evasion of sanctions; fraud, phishing, or impersonation; unlicensed gambling; or the laundering of proceeds of crime.
You may not attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the Service: no bypassing rate limits or payment-address derivation limits, no probing other merchants accounts, no automated scraping of payer-facing pages, and no reselling the Service as your own payment processor without a written agreement.
We may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used for any of the above, and we may report it where the law requires.
7. Availability and support
We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not offer an uptime guarantee or a service-level agreement. Maintenance, provider outages, blockchain congestion, and node failures can delay invoice creation, payment detection, and webhook delivery.
Support is provided by email on a best-effort basis. Contact details are on the contact page.
8. Liability
The Service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded by law.
We are not liable for: funds sent to an address derived from an xpub you provided incorrectly; funds sent on the wrong network or in a coin the invoice did not ask for; losses caused by a payment we failed to detect or detected late; your customers behaviour; blockchain reorganisations; or losses arising from your own integration, credentials, or wallet handling.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for credits in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost business.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Suspension, closure, and termination
You may close your account once no invoices are in flight (see section 3), confirming with your password and, if you use it, your 2FA code. Closing disables sign-in, revokes your sessions and API keys immediately, and hides your payment profiles so new invoices can no longer be created. Your transaction and audit records are retained - the Privacy Policy explains why and for how long. Your credit balance is preserved, not refunded, and comes back if you re-register with the same email address.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 6, that we are legally required to close, or that is being used to attack the Service. Where we can, we will tell you why.
We may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice. Unused credits are not refunded in cash, which is a consequence of them never having been money.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each version carries a version date, and the version you accepted is stored against your account. Material changes will be announced by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
Before starting proceedings, please contact us - most problems are a misunderstanding about what a non-custodial processor can and cannot do, and those are faster to resolve by email.
